How long has it been since I posted about stenciling my closet??? Too long to remember, right?
January 2012 to be exact. I just went back and looked.
I know.
That was nearly 2 children ago.
Sometimes my implementation of projects can be good, but my blog post follow up is apparently lacking. Which is funny since 99% of my projects start out as projects because I think “That would be a good blog post!”
I’m backwards. In so many ways.
The talented Sheaffer from Pinterest Told Me To asked me to take part in her closet confessions where she let’s you tour other bloggers closets… and I thought, “Brilliant!” This was literally just the motivation that I needed to finally photograph this space I spend so much time in.
If you don’t follow Sheaffer, let me give you the down low. She posts style inspiration from Pinterest and then she shows you how she recreates these styles using pieces from her own closet. I can not tell you how many times I have used her as my personal fashion assistant when I was in need of an outfit idea.
You will be able to see MORE photos of my favorite space and some closet confessions that may or may not involve me admitting to using the Hulk as my closet mascot. Hey, I gotta do what my boys request.
Ahem.
As you can imagine… a house full of boys means only one thing. This place is busting at the seems with boy themed everything – Spiderman, Robots, Tonka Trucks and Choo Choo Trains.
Which is why I love my closet so very very much.
I feel like it’s one of the only spaces in our home that screams, “A GIRL LIVES HERE!!” It might be a small 8×8 space, but it’s all I need to make me feel like the female population didn’t die off and leave me stranded living with humans that only grow male parts. #truestory
The giant fabric jewelry cork board was another Pinterest inspired project. It’s a great place to display all of my necklaces and it makes it easy to pick out which one I want to wear. I think it might just be the reason I accessorize more.
It’s pretty life changing when you can actually SEE your jewelry instead of having to dig through a drawer to find something.
I have a gazillion and eighty seven pair of shoes. But doesn’t every woman? My husband says no, but I disagree.
And seriously, his shoe obsession is worse than mine. If he’d ever get around to cleaning up his closet…I’d show you that I’m not lying.
I like choices. Especially sparkly and bright choices. Or shoes that make a statement like the black suede lace booties.
Something unique you’ll find in my closet – besides my dog who hides out with me when the boys are running around like they are going to tackle me because I’m refusing to play Power Rangers – is MY GUITAR!
In fact, my closet houses about 3 different guitars if you count all the guitars my boys now own. We might just start a family band. Beware.
Now when Klaya and I are hiding out…instead of bringing my laptop with me…I just shut the door and start playing some music. The only downfall to this is that it makes my secret spot a little less secret when I’m loudly strumming a song.
This space is truly why I love getting dressed in the mornings. And so far the boys aren’t catching on yet that I spend a lot of time in here. Sooooooo, I’ll keep disappearing to the closet until they notice it’s becoming a trend.
Thanks so much for allowing me to take 2+ years to finish this project and post. Who knew y’all were so patient?! Bahahaha.
