It’s been awhile since my basement has been finished. A LONGGGGG while actually.
In true Mandy Rose fashion I am posting about it when I feel “inspired”. Ha!
That’s my excuse for procrastination. I just haven’t been inspired to share this space yet. Yea. That’s what it is.
Ahem.
A few months ago I shared the built-in bookshelves that my dad created for the basement….and today I am sharing the office nook.
This space was literally SUPER unfinished before my dad tackled it. As in…no walls, no nothing.
I knew that I wanted to have a small desk area in the basement so I could bring my laptop down there and work if I wanted to.
Or surf Pinterest.
Either or.
I also knew that I didn’t have a TON of extra space to devote to an office. I needed to “fit” it in somewhere. That’s where the nook idea came in.
Of course it wasn’t my idea. It was my dads. Duh.
And if something ever happens to him…my blog will ultimately fail. At least in the home project niche.
Isn’t this cute little bench so inviting?
I thought it would be a good place for the kids to come bug me while I work surf Pinterest.
They actually do try and sit on my lap every time I get on the computer so this bench idea was something that {in my mind} might eliminate that.
I’m here to preach it though…my plan did not work. They still want to sit on my lap.
I’m ok with that for now because I realize that in a few years they will be too big for my lap.
Here’s a progress picture of after the walls were up and painted…but before he did all the custom built-in stuff for the nook!
It’s amazing what he can do, right?
I should mention that we got all of our inspiration from Pinterest.
I searched “office nooks” and we found THIS amazing project.
I’d say he did a pretty darn good job. Our space wasn’t quite as big as the one in the above picture so we had to scale it back a little. But…it ended up turning out WAY better than I had hoped {which I say every single time my dad finishes a project}.
Do you like how it turned out?
