I was so tired of walking out to my garage every morning and looking at clutter clutter clutter. I enlisted my dad to help me organize my garage with some custom built-in shelving.
I thought I would share the project here, you know, in case your garage was like mine and looks like an episode of hoarders. It’s amazing what adding some built-in shelves can do for getting you organized.
I’m not going to give a step-by-step of what he did because I feel like this project would be custom to your own garage {sizing, etc}…but I will include a materials list and tools list…and a few pictures of him in action.
And before you ask, no you may not adopt my father. He’s pretty fantastic, I know…but not up for hire. Or adoption.
Here is what you will need before you begin:
One great thing about building in the garage is that it’s just that…a garage.
A place where no one really cares what color you paint the shelves.
And so? I decided they didn’t need any paint or stain.
Take that for simplified.
You will need to know how to work a power drill for this project. So ladies, it’s time to get manly.
Or it’s time to enlist your man/dad/grandpa/neighbor/favorite guy friend to get manly.
One thing I will say about this project is that when you work with your dad…he will still treat you like you are his baby daughter.
He was terrified I was gonna cut myself with the saw. He does that every time I attempt to man ANY power tools. He insisted that he would work the saw for this project.
<<I got this dad…more faith more faith.>>
But in all honesty, I like his perfectionist attitude so I let him take over.
I’m really better at photographing than him anyway. So I stick to what I’m good at.
I’m pretty sure he had this project completed in one day and that was drawing up the sketch, buying the materials and building it.
Yes, again, he’s amazing.
I wish I could say I am finished, but I still need to find more junk for my shelves. Not very often will you hear me say that. LOL!
It’s nice to get the bins off the floor and out of the way. Especially since our garage has turned in to a place where we store 8 million kids bikes.
Do you like a clean and organized garage or are you gonna be on the next episode of TLC Garage Hoarders?
